Sofoline drivers Union rejects 15% transport fare increament, threaten demo Against G.P.R.T.U National Chairman and Transport Minister.
Sofoline drivers union chairman, Mr Albert Boamah in the Ashanti regional capital of kumasi has rejected the 15% increament of transport fares.
According to the chairman, the 15% is not much enough for them and they will still run at lost when they accept it.
In a media interaction, he lamented that the national chairman Mr Kwame Kumah has been in bed with the Transport Minister and due to that both of them agreed on the 15%, then Mr Kumah and Transport Ministry should get ready for a massive demonstration and they will uproot him like Cassava in the month of August 2020 on the election of GPRTU Natioanl chairman.
We will vote you out since you have decided to shut our plague and involve yourself in something that will favor you and the Minister alone but not the drivers.
However, Mr. Albert Boamah says they will defy the Covid-19 social Distancing protocol if the 15% increament is maintained.
They will pick up the normal passengers and take their normal transport fares which will not enable them running at lost.
Finally, He said Government of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo should come out and advice the transport minister to increase the percentage else they will defy the Covid-19 protocol by loading passengers as they use to do before Covid-19 came inn and they are ever ready to clash with the police over that.
