More Than 20 Members Arrested- Security Services Seek To Restore Calm In Western Togoland Secession Attempt…
More than twenty (20) members of the secessionist group, Homeland Study Foundation also known as Western Togoland Group, have been picked up by security forces.
In a joint operation by the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service, the members were arrested at Abortia near Juapong where the secessionist group had earlier blocked the roads. One other member of the group is reportedly dead.
The group seeks to make the Volta Region a sovereign nation. There have been several attempts to secede from Ghana in the past with some members facing prosecution.
