Free water supply extended to the end of the year.

Government has extended its free water supply for all Ghanaians for another three months; effective October 1, 2020. The press release signed by the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources Hon. Cecelia Dapaa stated that the decision was to enable Ghanaians continue with the covid-19 protocols especially the washing of hands under running water, to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic,”

The minister used this to “appeal to consumers to use the water judiciously in the observance of the covid-19 protocols. She urged all landlords and water tanker service providers to refrain from charging or selling water to consumers as government is paying for the water”.

It would be recalled that in March 2020 during the lockdown, due to the outbreak of the novel corona virus in Ghana, President Akufo- Addo announced the provision of free potable water slashed electricity tariffs by half.

He has further extended this stimulus package since June 2020, and now to the end of the year.
